New on Kandrit: Replay, Friends, the Leaderboard and Guest Play

Four things added over the past weeks, and what each one is for. Replay a finished campaign, play it against your friends, see where you stand across the whole platform, and start playing with just a nickname.
Four things have been added to Kandrit over the past weeks. None of them are large on their own, and all four exist for the same reason: a quiz you enjoyed used to end and leave you with nowhere to go until the next campaign started.
Replay a campaign after it ends
Every finished campaign now has a Replay button on its card. Press it and you get the same quiz again, on the clock, scored the same way.
It is for the two things people kept asking for. If you missed a campaign, you can still see how you would have done. If you played it, you can go back and beat yourself, and the result screen shows your original score beside the new one so you can see whether you actually improved or just remembered the answers.
A replay has no prize and cannot change the campaign's real leaderboard. Nothing you do in a replay touches the result that was already settled, which is the whole reason it was safe to build.
Play against your friends
Pick any finished campaign and start a game from it, then share the code. Between two and ten of you answer the same questions at the same time and the scores move while you play.
You do not need to create a campaign, fund a prize or know anything about how the platform works. You need a code and someone to send it to. The room stays open for a few minutes so people can arrive, and when everybody has finished, or time runs out, the board is final.
It works on a phone in a group chat, which is what it was built for.
A leaderboard for the whole platform
Until now a leaderboard only existed inside a campaign. There is a platform leaderboard now, and it is open to anybody, signed in or not. It has two separate boards, and keeping them apart matters:
- Campaignsis real campaign play. It is the record that carries prizes, and nothing you do anywhere else can move it.
- Replays and friendsis everything with no prize attached. Only your best run of each quiz counts here, so playing the same one forty times gains you nothing unless you actually beat yourself.
Each board runs by week, by month and all time, so somebody starting today is not permanently behind somebody who started last year. If you are signed in, your own line is shown wherever you are on the table, not just when you make the top twenty.
Play without an account
You can now pick a nickname and start playing. No email, no password, no waiting for a code.
What a guest can do: play any open campaign, replay a finished one, join a game with friends, and react to campaigns. What a guest cannot do: post in chat, appear on the platform leaderboard, or be paid a prize. Those need an account, because a prize needs somebody to pay it to and a leaderboard needs names that mean something.
A guest account belongs to the browser you made it in, so clearing your browser loses it. When you decide to create a real account, everything you have already played comes with you.
Where to find them
- ReplayandPlay with friends: on the card of any finished campaign, in the campaigns list.
- Join a friend's game: the code box in the menu at the top of any page.
- Leaderboard: in the bar above the campaigns list, and in the footer of every page.
- Guest play: pick a nickname when you are asked to sign in.
One thing worth being clear about
Only real campaigns carry prizes. Replays and games with friends are free, unlimited and worth nothing in naira, and they will stay that way. If there were money in replaying a quiz, the fastest player would simply replay it all day, and the campaigns that do carry prizes would stop meaning anything.
What they are worth is a place on the second board, and the next campaign finding you sharper than the last one did.
